Analysis of Factors Affecting the Electrical Strength of Insulating Board

  • Release time: 2022-08-19

I believe that through the previous introduction and daily use, we should have a certain understanding of the insulating board, which is widely used in many fields, but it does not mean that the performance of the product is very good, and there will be no problems when it is used. For example, when it is used, the electrical strength of the product is affected to a certain extent, resulting in less obvious effects. In order to reduce the occurrence of this phenomenon, Let's find out what factors affect the electrical strength of the product, so that we can pay more attention in future use.

  (1) Sample thickness: when the insulating plate material is very thin, the breakdown voltage is proportional to the thickness, that is, the electrical strength is independent of the thickness. When the thickness of the insulating material increases, it will make it difficult to dissipate heat, and impurities, bubbles and other factors will reduce the electrical strength.

  (2) Temperature: The electrical strength will decrease with the increase of temperature above room temperature.

  (3) Humidity: moisture entering the insulating material. The electrical strength decreases.

  (4) Voltage action time: for most organic materials of insulating boards, the electrical strength decreases with the extension of voltage action time. During the test, the voltage rising speed is fast and the electrical strength is high, while the voltage rising step by step or slowly acts for a long time, which can better reflect the thermal effect and the existence of defects such as air gap in the material. Therefore, it is stipulated in general test methods that the impulse boosting method is not adopted, but the method of continuous boosting or stepwise boosting is adopted.

  (5) Mechanical stress or mechanical damage: the electrical strength of insulating materials will be reduced after mechanical stress or mechanical damage. The sample processing of laminated products shall avoid being damaged by force as much as possible, and milling shall be used without injury and the machining feed shall be controlled to be small.

  (6) Sample: the sample shall not be polluted, and the thin insulating plate sample shall not have wrinkles. It will reduce the breakdown voltage.

  (7) There is water or carbon dust in the transformer oil: if the sample is to be tested for breakdown in the transformer oil, the transformer oil shall meet the standard requirements. Over a long period of time, the transformer oil absorbs moisture and has carbon particles left after repeated breakdown, which will reduce the breakdown voltage of the sample. The transformer oil shall be timely treated or replaced.

In fact, through the above introduction of the factors that affect the electrical strength of the insulating board, I believe that everyone has a certain understanding. After we have some understanding of it, we need to pay more attention in our daily operations to ensure that the electrical strength of the product will not be affected. Of course, the product will not be ineffective when it is used, When using, you must strictly follow the correct operation steps and precautions.
